A few words on the Book
 
The book 'Crafting Strategy: Embodied Metaphors in Practice' by Loizos Heracleous and Claus D. Jacobs explores how embodied metaphors are employed in strategic management. This represents a unique approach that uses objects and spatial arrangements as metaphors to help teams visualize and tackle complex strategic challenges.

This approach, which fosters strong engagement and creative methods for problem solving, can be a strong complementary actor to a more rationalist approach to strategic management - which, on the other hand, focuses on the importance of analytical mindsets.

The book came to life from the authors' willingness to enrich the existing literature on strategic thinking. Indeed, while they felt much research had been carried out on the topic of strategic planning (a rational and structured mindset, aimed at reducing complexity), they found less attention being devoted to the topic of strategic thinking in management.  The latter, through its distinct creative connotation, represents a key asset in organizations for the degree of sensitivity, perception, and engagement that it propels.
